The Rim County Cosmetology Academy Payson Campus
As part of Gila County Community College Payson Campus Cosmetology program, the Rim County Cosmetology Academy provides students an opportunity to apply cosmetology practices and principles in a simulated salon environment. As part of the program, cosmetology students provide salon services to to the public under the supervision of a licensed instructor.
Ed Lydic Memorial Xeriscape Garden
The Ed Lydic Memorial Xeriscape Garden Sits in the center of the Gila County Community College Payson Campus. It was created in 2002 to showcase local plants and the concept of Xeriscape gardening. Xeriscape gardening reduces or eliminates the need for supplemental irrigation of plant life. The garden has a path and benches for students to enjoy between classes.
The Jimmy Harris Interpretive Trail
The Jimmy Harris Interpretive Trail at the Gila Community College Payson Campus is a double loop, figure eight trail totaling 1.12 miles. The trail is set among towering ponderosa pines and weaves through thickets of manzanita. The trailhead is at the Payson Campus parking lot and heads east into the surrounding forest giving students a chance to get the feeling they are lost in the woods right outside the GCC campus.
