You get the best of both worlds when you buy a house in Strawberry: quiet, peaceful mountain living and everyday conveniences that are just a short drive away.

Are short-term rentals allowed in Pine?

In the general Pine area (outside of HOA communities), yes. Since Pine is unincorporated, there isn’t a town ban on vacation rentals, and many owners do rent out their cabins on Airbnb or VRBO, mainly in summer.
It’s a popular weekend getaway spot, so short-term rentals can do well. However, if the home is in an HOA (like the Portals or some smaller subdivisions), you need to check that HOA’s rules. For example -

Portal III’s CC&Rs require a 6+ month minimum lease (so nightly/weekly rentals are not allowed there).
Portal IV also discourages or limits short rentals (they require at least 30 days, effectively preventing typical Airbnb use).

Always verify the specific neighborhood’s policy. If you’re thinking of buying to use as a vacation rental, I can guide you to which areas are STR-friendly. And if you do rent out your Pine cabin, remember to get the proper county permit and collect bed tax as required by Gila County.
